My dog has worms

Just discovered my adult dog has worms. Vet warned me about it when I told him she was catching and partially eating rabbits.
Anyone go through this with an adult dog? What am I in for? Just dropped sample off at vets. Hope to have medication by tomorrow.
I hope it doesn’t make her have uncontrollable in-house pooping!

My GSP has done this in the past also especially in late march when the rabbits are having babies every where.
our vet warned us to watch and see if she starts dragging her butt on the carpet and to clean the carpet with strong cleaning solution as eggs can be deposited in the carpet from this and transmitted to babies playing on the floor.

not a pleasant thought, but part of dealing with a house dog when they do this.

Been through it a few times (The dogs – not me). Just keep up on the medication as directed. Caught early enough, its not a big deal. Also, keep up with disposing of the crap. worms/eggs will be in there

Put your dog on a prevention year round that covers tape worms. One is called Ivhertmax and you will not likely have issues again

Yeah, no biggie. What kind of worms? Keep up with the meds. Kind of creepy when your dog starts pooping out dead worms, though!

Oh, and be vigilant about hand washing! You can catch them, and then you’ll be dragging your butt on the carpet!

Wouldn’t want that to happen again……

Reminds me of the Family Guy episode:
Stewie: “You can always call Lauren (chick from The Hills)”
    Brian: “No, I can’t.”
    Stewie: “Why not?”
Brian: “She’s never going to speak to me again. I gave her worms.”
    (Lauren dragging butt on carpet)

One big chewable pill and they were gone just like that. Amazing.

I fed my last 3 dogs heart worm pills that also contained a wormer. I treated my dog year round not just during mosquito season. 2 of them ate plenty of rabbits and they always got a clean bill of health with that 12 mos out of the year treatment.

Yea. I might have to stick with the heart pills all year per the vet. I am old school and always shut them off in the winter but like you say they contain protection for more than just heart worms.
