I have a 2013 MX 2025 and looking at cutting in a rod tip slot into the starboard front console for rod tips (similar to the ranger FS). Like the boat very well but too use to bass boat front decks and would like to be able to leave rods flat on front deck of the MX. Has anybody done this with success? thanks for the help

I have found that if you lay rods back towards the windshield and allow the tips to hang off the side of the boat, works really well.
I am sure you could cut a hole or notch into the drivers side console, but you have to be very careful as all of the instrument wiring is tucked right behind that console, which also wouldn’t leave much room to run rod tips. I could see that in the mold process if Skeeter would run a tube or something similar you would be able to run rod tips back into the console.
Customizing like this would also void any console warranty from Skeeter, fyi.

Keep the ideas coming, topics like this is how boat designs can change. Great idea

    Cal,
thanks for the reply. I am thinking about doing something similar to one of my drift boats and use a 1 1/2″ tube for each tip. that would allow only round holes and hopefully deal with the stress factors on the console. I have also left my rod tips hang out over the edge but have found in rough water conditions they tend to get airborne . I love this boat, and so far it is a good compromise to our bass boat.. the wife does not like flying down the lake 1 1/2′ off the water..FYI was out on lake Powell UT. last month and up lake 27 miles in 3 ft. wind waves. my son was in the MX and I was in a friends 2013 2050 angler. my friend asked how fast my son was going to be going and about that time he went by us going about 35 to 40 timing the waves the bow of the MX was cutting nicely thru the waves. we tried to keep up in the “RGR” 2050 and proceeded to take a beating . there was no way that we were going to keep up with the MX and keep everything in one place. The skeeter is a little smaller but there is nothing like boat to boat testing in the same conditions to see the differences. the kid still likes the bass boat but when the wind blows on LP, UT you know which one he is grabbing, the MX

Great to hear comparisons between a couple different boats and models. If you do any of these mod’s please take pics and post them. Would like to show Skeeter.
    Thanks

thanks for the suggestions I talked to my fiberglass guy today and going to take the boat to him to set up. we are going to look at the FS style but leaning towards the 1 1/2″ tubes w/ liners epoxied in to the console. looks like the front deck planes out to the interior shelf of console so they would extend into that area and not be too in the way. I also have the typ. motor well cracks developing. I have talked to the guys at SBC and it seams like the typ fix is the bed liner application. Cal, if I handle this repair myself and not go thru Skeeter for the warranty, do you see any potential warranty problems for me with Skeeter if I have more extensive issues with the boat.. I am at least 6 hrs from any skeeter dealers so the fuel/travel/time cost I can offset by taking care of the bed liner myself??? I understood that the warranty issues with buying a Skeeter boat were going to be a problem for us in Western CO, but I liked the boat package enough to deal with some things myself. thanks for any advise with warranty related issues

I think the better solution is to cut a hole where the graph slot is right in the bow and put the reel butts up there. I am working on getting a hold of some trim pieces to completed this mod. There would be no implications of console warranty and you cannot use trim pieces on the console or the doors will not open PM me for details
