MX1825 Throttle trim piece – Is there open space behind it?

Sorry for the vague title, I have a battery charge monitor display i’m thinking of installing in the area of the Throttle trim piece that’s empty (screenshot below with area highlighted in RED) Before I start removing screws and potentially opening a can of worms, has anybody already taken that trim piece off? (maybe for installing a kicker throttle?) is there room behind it to install a 3″x4″ display with wires that will need to be routed to the battery compartment?

Here’s the monitor display face, it’s about 3″x4″ with 2 sets of wires that come out the back and connect to the starter/trolling batteries, it flush mounts so my only worry is that there’s room behind trim piece for the wires to route down to the battery compartment.

There is a very narrow void behind there. The rest of the control box goes back behind there. You can take the 6 screws out and see how it is behind there without causing any issues if you want.

I would suggest a different location if I had to choose.

Thanks Eric! I think any other location would require drilling into fiberglass ( I’d like to avoid that….

If I recall correctly you will have about 1″ between the plate and the control box.
