A $3 stainless mug from Northern tool and a paint roller grid (again $3) for the buddy heater. Use the cup for scooping water for minnows, heating (boiling) water, drinking etc. the grid goes on the buddy for cooking or reheating almost anything you can wrap in foil or put in a pan(foil) or in the mug, Egg rolls, burritos, egg mcmuffins, hotdogs, soup, stew, etc. I can boil water in about 10 minutes. no more cold sandwiches, Butter the outside of the bread wrap in one layer of foil and cook on medium for about 3 minutes per side and you have a toasted sandwich.
Get fat sitting in your tent.
I’m surprised somebody hasn’t come out with a buddy heater cookbook.

You guys fish in the lap of luxury. No more sitting on a bucket with a hand auger I guess.

There were only 3 things mentioned in this thread that matter.

    Fireball, fireball and fireball.

The fart blocker is a good idea. Nothing like sitting in a one man shack with heater cranking after a long night of fireball and ‘stones and then having one sneak out of your bibs. Oofda.

I don’t smoke but I keep a lighter in just about every compartment and pocket that I have, always seem to need one for some reason or another.

Speaking of how expensive the 1 lb tanks are, I recently got an refill adapter that I ordered from Home Depot. I think I paid 9-10 bucks for it. Screws into a 20lb tank and then a 1 lb tank screws on. Refilled 6 Coleman 1 pounders in 30 min. Pretty soon I am going to have to get my 20lber refilled! That little adapter is my favorite thing right now.

I’ve got a lighter and some Carmex in just about every pocket I have. Fishing outside makes my lips chapped. Or I’m dehydrated from all the beer and coffee

I like the cold snap hook tool for removing jigs and hooks from panfish and walleye. I have that along with a line cutter and little glo flashlight on a necklace I wear works pretty well.

These gloves have been fantastic so far this year. I wear a pair of thin fingertip-less gloves under them. Completely waterproof which is huge.

I also agree that the vexilar glow ring is the best UV light, but if you’re looking for something less expensive, I have had great experience with this small light. It also has a clip so you don’t lose it.

I also cannot say enough good things about ice fishing specific bibs. The cushioned/waterproof knees make hole hoping comfy.

I’m going to have to look into those kahtoolas, I wear Muck Wetland boots and the cleats I have are ok at best. Not a huge issue now with the snow but early and late ice I will need something better

Pistachios – taste great and the shells break down nicely to add traction on slick ice.

A good handkerchief or some other snot rag. Also the deep freeze one shot skimmer. Thought they were kind of gimmicky when I got it. But it makes cleaning fresh cut holes quick.

I would have to say the cold snap yellow hook remover. It is a great tool and cheap. I have it around my neck with my line cutter and a small UV light to glow up stuff.

Wondering what you guys have for the ice that you are really glad you bought. I’m not talking shelter, auger, heater, flasher, or all the other main stuff but wondering about something random or fun that has really “made your day.”

Lithium power pack, and lite flite, changed my entire experience.

    Edit for auger, my bad.

I am debating the power pack. What do you have on it that you like and what do you have on it that you don’t really use?

    Hot hands, during winter.
In the car, truck, bucket or everywhere. The weather can turn on you, the equipment breaks down- these heat packs can keep you from getting frostbite.

I take a towel, remove one side wire of a paper clamp, spear that through the towel, and re- attach to the clamp, then I clip my hemostat to the towel. Clip the clamp to my jacket or bibs.

    and THIS:

    https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cinch-tie-knot-tying-tool?ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Shop%7CGeneric%7CAllProducts%7CHigh%7CSSCCatchAll&gclid=Cj0KCQiA6Or_BRC_ARIsAPzuer9JfRXfhbSt8DwhVvC-Rf7HbFBeuD44Olwf2Vk5zJppJEGliixnOnAaApsNEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Between old eyes, cold fingers, and light line, I can’t tie an improved clinch without it any more.
