I have an ipilot link and would like to buy two units. One for bow and one for console. Would like si on one unit. Have a budget of $2,000. Any suggestions?

How important is it for you to network them? If you want 2 units and the trolling motor networked you will need the ethernet hub ($250), a few ethernet cords and 2 cord adapters. So that will play into the price.

If its not important to network the units, or you are willing to wait to network, i would look at combinations of helix units, perhaps get some of last years model for less. That will buy you bigger screen for your dollar.

If you shop around you can get the Network Interlink for as low as $150, used even lower. eBay will probably get you the lowest price. I’d search for used Helix 10s. To save money only one needs SI, the other can just be GPS/Sonar. They will share everything you want shared except the map chip. Take your time, and occasionally I see complete matching pairs with everything you need pop up for decent prices.

I’d look for two used combo units, but would buy new networking cables and the 5-port ethernet switch unless someone throws them in for free with the units. (Be careful not to get an “InterLink” as that’s older tech.) For me, saving $15 on a $50 cable isn’t enough to risk used connections that are kinked, etc.

If you do some searching you could definitely get an 1199 SI and an 1159 sonar plus the 5-port ethernet switch and all the cables you need for under $2000. These aren’t supported with updates anymore (after Dec 2016), but it’s sound so you won’t need any more updates.
The slightly newer used Helix (generation 1) units run on the same network parts, you’ll just have to settle for slightly smaller screens for the same money. Probably a 10 and a 7, or two 9s. Smaller screens for same price, but brighter and include the option to use AutoChart.
