Fun weekend. Longtail outboard motors are fun to run over weed beds.

I’m not ripping on you or your video Damon. Just making an observation as we have a boat load of mud motors up this way too.

The Corp of Engineers are planning a draw down of Pool 3 of the Mississippi River of 18″ at Lock and Dan #3 to help promote weed growth which in turn gives fish cover/spawning areas along with food for migrating waterfowl.

It seems detrimental to the environment to be running through aquatic weeds not only for the promotion of the weeds but the potential of boating accidents due to the draw down. IF an 18″ draw can be made, there will be wing dams and sand bars popping up where people have always felt comfortable boating before.

Since I’m not in your area, for all I know whacking some weeds down might have an advantage for fish/wild life compared to MN/WI.

Yes, weeds are/have been a problem in our area. In fact in several lakes they’ve had to resort to poisoning the water to get rid of the weeds.

I don’t like making a habit of running though the weeds like that, and mud motors are practically non-existent around my parts.

    Thx!

Damon, I’ll bet you could come up with a cool mod to run those on bare ice?!
They call those scratchers up here but I think they are even more rare than mud rigs?

Hmm, I wonder? That might work well on ice. Plenty of power, I know that!
