Mrs. Fields cookies

I got a Mrs. Fields cookie cookbook pamphlet many year ago thinking those store bought Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookies were just plain good. After a batch or two I figured the recipe needed some amending and this pile of cookies is the result of that changola. These cookies, while basically are just a chocolate chip cookie right out of her book, also have butterscotch chips, coconut and chopped, dried sweet cherries in them. Instead of using straight butter I use 50% butter and 50% blue bonnet. The dough is a stiff sucker to mix up, but this almost 8 dozen batch of cookies are so tender its almost like eating a slice of fresh bread.

I love me some cookies while watching the tube in the evening and this one goes great with a tall cold glass of milk.

Some 2017 stats for Martha’s state fair booths.

Today, its three booths can produce up to 3 million cookies a day – that’s 200,000 cookies per hour. In one year, they go through 54 tons of chocolate chips, 62 tons of flour and 42,000-dozen eggs. Wrap your mind around that for a moment.

I was really hungry for some cookies after reading Tom’s post…. now I feel a little less interested ) BUT I sure like a good cookie!!! Is one, two or even three ever really enough though?

The Mrs. Fields recipe is good but I prefer the Nestles Toll House recipe with the addition of an extra dose of vanilla. I have a double batch of dough in the refrigerator to bake tonight. My college age nieces will get care packages that will make them happy.

My wife will use almond or hazlenut extract to switch it up some times, that is tasty as well.

When I think Mrs. Fields I think of trips to Maplewood Mall as a kid. Milk chocolate macadmemia nut and a carton of milk, takes me back.

Never met many cookies I didn’t like. Unless it has nuts in them.

    Then all bets are off.

Haven’t meet a pile of cookies yet I wouldn’t destroy in a night. No reason to keep em around and prolong the obesity.

Coconut has no place in cookies imo. They look good tho.
