Mr. Heater Buddy dual propane tank

What connector can I use to hook up two 20# propane tanks to a buddy heater? I would like automatically switch over. Is a regulator necessary? Any help or advice would be appreciated

Interesting question, but why? It’s so quick and easy to switch tanks.

I am not aware of a system which will draw from one tank and then automatically switch over to draw from the second tank. Not to say it’s not out there, just that I’m not aware of it.

One would need separate manual shut off valves in the plumbing (not the shut off on the tank) if your are wanting to be able to replace an empty tank (in a dual tank set up) with a full tank while NOT disrupting the flow to the heater.

To switch, you would need a selector valve like in campers. Then you manually switch from tank a and tank b

The real question is where do you live that you need to pump 40# of propane through a buddy heater in one sitting?…

Doing as mentioned above should work fine if you have a standard buddy with only one tank hookup. If you have a big buddy, just buy two adapter hoses and run them on each side. I believe the mfg recommends a regulator but many people have used 20# tanks (including me) on a big buddy with no problems.
