Don’t ask me why but I’m planning on using butane propane tanks with my small buddy heater. Would this work? adapter

    It’s the MH9BX model.

Anything I should know or can I just do it?

Butane does NOT work well in the cold. Switching it over would be a huge mistake.

No switch over needed but, Butane won’t be a vapor at less than +5C (41F).

So the answer is “YES, it’s safe to use the adapter in the picture with nothing extra”? This heater can use it? No filters or anything? I’m reading about the hoses for the bigger tanks. I’m going to use the propane butane tanks in the picture. I just want to be sure.

Picture from Sunday for your amusement. Welcome to my world.

Seems pointless to use it given the previously mentioned temperature issue, but it will provide 1/3 more CO2 than the propane and less CO if completely combusted due to an extra carbon element.

Anyone want to recommend a GOOD PORTABLE carbon monoxide alarm?

Hardware store has kiddie and it must work, I’m still alive. It has gone off in more draft proof enclosures where I was using a Buddy heater.

I have to ask. Why the switch?

The op specifically said in his original post “Don’t ask me why.” Guess he was anticipating your response. toast wave

It’s like being told not to push the red button. I just couldn’t resist. grin

I also emailed the support on the Mr Heater site and the only reply I got was “Thank you for the inquiry,

Unfortunately, butane is not approved for that heater, I’m very sorry.”

So there it is. Maybe it works, maybe it won’t but I’m not going to try.

It’s basically much easier for me to get hold of butane canisters.

Hi! I know this was long ago, but wandering if you managed to make the adaptation and how well it worked. I’m under the same issue.

    Thanks!
