Mower sales

I think I’m decided on getting a toro zero turn 75742, and I found a dealer that is close, knowledgeable and polite who can have it set up properly and provide future support.

I’m mostly wondering if I would see any significant price drops (hundreds) if I wait longer to buy. He has it $100 off plus whatever the labor would be for leveling the deck and assembling/attaching the bagger system.

It would be nice to be riding now, but I’m not terribly in need until leaf season. Not really interested in dealing with a big box store for this type of purchase.

they want to charge you labor to level the deck of a brand new mower? that should already be done and ready to go when you buy it moon

Nice mower, I got one a couple years ago at the state fair.
The only opinion I can give you is now that you know what you want, is get on the phone to every dealer even remotely close and make it a bidding war.
I am going to do that with the bagging system for mine shortly.
    Good Luck

We were in this position a couple years ago and I looked for a year or so and didnt find anything significant deals on them. (Looking for a MX4200/74766) I did end up calling around the cities prior to all of this and no one really had anything worth while price wise.Might be worth while to wait especially if you dont NEED it until the fall and watching prices and see if anything happens. Worst is they dont budge on price and you have a little more leverage so they dont have to store it over the winter. Just my 2 cents.

What we did find while talking to the toro guys at the state fair is they (the dealer that was there that day) had last years model that they had marked down a like $4-500 and we dropped on it. Thankfully it was exactly what we were looking for with the fabricated deck. Chaulked up to right place, right time.

As far as the bagger system, I have looked far and wide for deals on a bagger and have yet to see them go on sale for then $100 difference between any one place that I have looked. Will be adding one this season because picking up leaves is getting old and have come to realize the price of the bagger is what it is.

All in all, has been a great mower and easy to do routine maintenace on.

No, the labor cost you don’t pay is something that you could theoretically view as an additional discount – it arrives leveled, all put together, checked over by a proper tech, and with a little gas.

If you get it from a big box you assemble/level yourself, or maybe some high school kid slapped it together.

From what I saw the bagger systems cost more than other brands, but they looked bigger and better and come with front weights. Once I started physically looking at different units I leaned more towards toro.

They made several updates to the 2020s (especially seat and front wheels) that I think are worth getting less of a discount.

April,May and June are the hot selling months for mowers. Toro’s website shows it as $200 off right now. If you are convinced that is the model you want, I think you are getting it right. You may see it drop a bit in the fall, or you may find they are sold out in the fall and have to get a model you don’t want. At a $200 off sale, you are likely doing pretty well.

Agreed. Waiting to save a tiny percentage may risk the mower being unavailable. We may see additional shutdowns and who knows what else between now and the fall. You won’t miss $100 or $200 or whatever fraction if you have hours of enjoyable use out of it, and it’s just there and available come leaf time.
Of course this all assumes it’s a cash purchase. Borrowing for a want in this environment is a no no.

Thanks – this is pretty much what I wanted to know. If I won’t save several hundred, and I risk not getting one to maybe save $50, and I have to keep push moving for 2 months, then it is not worth it.

Just hope it’s the machine that lasts 10+ years.

Agree…seasonal equipment tends to sell out on good models. If you want it, but it. You won’t save anything to crazy anyways. You could get lucky I guess but if it’s what you want, go buy it! (And try a little haggling, you never know)

I purchased a new Hustler Raptor 42″ a month ago. With manufacturer and dealer deals the dealer gave me about $500 off total. As we were talking I mentioned I wanted to support a small business rather than the box stores. He seemed to appreciate it and may have led to him taking more off.
