Well, our former Gubnor Jackass Ventura said that he’s not going because Chris Kyle is a liar and a general money-grubbing dirtball, so I guess that means I won’t see it either.
Ventura was a Navy SEAL, you know.

Courts ruled in Jesse’s favor which means the courts say Kyle is a liar. I support the courts decision and Jesse on this one.

January 29, 2015 at 6:19 pm #1504503Great movie. Read the book as well. The movie version was definitely changed to meet hollywoods standards. Sequence of events were not accurate but movie was still good.
starvin pilgrimPosts: 335January 29, 2015 at 6:24 pm #1504510No, It’s about his tours of duty as a Seal Sniper and his life at home between tours. The part you mention is just a small, but important part . Go see the movie, it covers all human emotions a military person and their families can go through.
January 29, 2015 at 7:56 pm #1504555Saw the first showing here. Anyone that doesn’t get an emotional rush at the end as the credits roll up is not a parent, husband, or having a sense of patriotic duty.
What really caught me was the 30 seconds to minute after it ended and credits rolled up. As lights went on in the theater, you heard people sniffing, applauding, vets standing, and many of us guys with our caps off our heads and over our hearts. powerful ending.
yes, there is a hell of a lot of money being made. Amazing how much goes into the foundation and multiple charities. At first, as money was donated from them as individual tax payers, they were caught up in the gift tax laws.
I rep licensed apparels. The license fees going directly to the foundation are not cheap.
also, I had the opportunity to meet Taya at the Shot Show. Only got to talk to her for about 10 minutes or a little less. So humble. She appeared to me to be a bit over whelmed. Never got the impression that she demanded or deserved the attention she received. The only booths I am aware of that she spent time at were all related to serving our vets. I believe she is as real as she appears.

Just went on Tuesday evening, and yes as the credits were rolling no one left their seats and not a sound was heard until everyone was out of the theater. Whether the story was completely accurate or not people showed respect for the film. I was surprised that even some of the younger generation were quiet and impressed with the movie. Some of the comments were that it was a powerful movie. I was never in the military, but I still have more respect for our armed forces members than anyone around.

Highly inappropriate glenn57 on my part.

no problem here!!!!!!!!!
January 30, 2015 at 9:15 am #1504756Saw it with the wife last night.. There is some obvious Hollywood plot structure in it, but otherwise it is one of the most accurate depictions of being in theater that I have seen on screen. Cooper did an amazing job as well, definitely a must see
January 30, 2015 at 9:15 am #1504757Saw the 4PM show opening day in Rosemount.
Place was full of us vets.
When the movie was over the place was dead silent.
No one was talking all the way out the lobby and parking lot.desperadoPosts: 3010desperadoPosts: 3010January 31, 2015 at 1:08 pm #1505268When the movie was over the place was dead silent.

I have not seen the movie yet but plan to this weekend.
Ventura is the lowest form of scum on the earth and I hope I out live him so I can go and urine on his grave when he is dead!deertrackerPosts: 9239January 31, 2015 at 2:43 pm #1505305It’s easy to win a lawsuit when the other side isn’t there to defend themselves.
DTJanuary 31, 2015 at 4:04 pm #1505319The lawsuit was raised against something in print… it is still there today and will always be, the damage was done and is irreversible (see some of the comments here) Seeing one veteran defile another for profit is wrong, no matter who the veterans involved are in my mind.

uhhh, I held my denigrating opinion of Jesse the Narcissist long before I ever knew who Chris Kyle was

from suzuki – [quote=1504404]Courts ruled in Jesse’s favor which means the courts say Kyle is a liar. I support the courts decision and Jesse on this one.
well, I have to say, jesse knows what it takes to be a money grubbing dirtball, he wrote the freakin book.
he also believes George Bush was behind the 9-11 attack, are you with him on that one as well? not to worry, with rosie o’donnell on his side you guys are in good shape.
@suzuki – the courts also found oj not guilty, do you blindly support him?January 31, 2015 at 4:50 pm #1505340Our laws are written to protect everyone, dirtbag or not. Being a soldier and protecting these rights, does not give someone the right to step outside of them. Are you saying it is ok, to lie about someone and line your pocket, as long as they are not held high in public opinion ?
desperadoPosts: 3010January 31, 2015 at 4:56 pm #1505344no; I’m saying lie or not, that story did not damage Jesse’s reputation or character
January 31, 2015 at 5:11 pm #1505345Did it help Kyle sell his book ? That is what the lawsuit was about. And it was lie’s… makes me wonder what I can believe for fact, the stories in his book.
desperadoPosts: 3010January 31, 2015 at 5:22 pm #1505350did it help sell the book? probably
was money made of the book sales? definitely
was that story untrue? maybebut that’s only PART of what the “lawsuit was about” … there also has to be demonstrated “damage” to the plaintiff <– that element is tenuous at best
