Mounting on-board charger in 2018 1900 Tyee

My first post. I picked up a new 2018 1900 Tyee a few weeks ago. I plan to install a MinnKota MK220PC on-board charger. I figure that the best mounting location is under the dash so it gets some air. There’s also plenty of room in the forward storage compartments, but less chance for air circulation. Any hints?

I also noticed that when the rear fishing seat is in place on the deck that the motor can’t be trimmed up very far. Will an offset seat pedestal help? Anyone know where to get one with a locking 1.77 base?

It came with the sport top, but I can’t find a place to order only the side curtains. Would also be nice to have a cover for the bow when we’re fishing in the rain. Need help here too.

Love the boat. Maiden voyage was on Winnie here in NH. Found enough open water to get it up to speed and take some turns. Very impressed. Being New England, it came with a Merc 150. I picked up a MinnKota Ultrex, alternator charger, Humminbird Helix 9. I retire in 2 months, looking forward to having fun!

Nice Boat! I noticed the same about the rear seat just today despite having my boat for almost a year now (1775 Impact XS). That being said I think that where my motor is on the trailer is way higher than I would ever run it in the water so it doesn’t worry me much. Might be slightly different on your bigger motor though.

I also wish they made a bow cover. As far as the sides- I believe your dealer can get them no problem. They are probably pricy

I’ve got a 2012 1850 Tyee and my MK220 is mounted to the inside side wall of the port front storage area. Never had any issues with it being in the storage. Obviously the hatch has to be opened to plug it in to its vented when it is beign charged.
I purchased the whole topset (front, side and rear curtains) since I do alot of remote lake camping with it. But the set was purchased with the boat, so not sure how much it was, or if the set could be ordered in separate pieces. I would suspect your dealer could quote you some piece prices from lund.

Thanks for the reply. The dealer replied to me this week, said that Lund designed the battery compartment with space at the front for the charger. He said that there’s no issue with over-temp. makes the install very easy, just need to drill four holes for machine screws. I also looked at a couple of the dealer walk-through videos on YouTube, and they also poined out that location for the charger.

Thanks for the reply. I guess we’ll lust need to be careful with the trim when the seat is in place. We do a lot of fishing on the Connecticut river, and some of the setbacks get pretty shallow. The boat came with a factory SS prop, don’t want to ding it.

I’ll check with the dealer on the curtains and bow cover.

Installation complete. Tight, but it fit. Manual didn’t say, but the initial charge on new, flooded lead-acid batteries can be up to 20 hours (vs normal 6 hour duration).
