Mounting a kicker ?

I just ordered a tiller kicker for my MX1825 and would like some advise on the best way to mount it to the boat. It will be going on the starboard side.

Is it better to get a mounting bracket or mount it directly to the transom ?

Is it better to clamp it on or bolt it on ?

How far from the center of the transom should it be ?

    Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Pictures of your setup would be very helpful.

    Thank You !

Call the guys at Skeeter Boat Center. They do this all day long. Heck, if it were me I’d just have them do it for the minimal price they charge and for a piece of mind.

No help on the actual mounting, but just wanted to add some food for thought… I’m assuming your steering counsel is on the starboard side also? When its just you in the boat and no passenger (or someone that isn’t very heavy) on the port side to help balance out the weight, you might have a noticeable list to the starboard side because of the weight from the kicker in addition to you sitting on the starboard side when driving on plane. This is why you see most kickers mounted on the port side. I’m curious why you prefer the starboard side?

Mine is on the portside. It is clamped with a Skeeter plate on the inside of the transom. It is 10.75 inches from the tie down to the motor bracket. It has a lock over the motor clamps. Pictures aren’t the best because boat is in garage and not much room behind it.

    Thank You all.

I’m thinking of mounting it like mxskeeter’s is.

Should I put something between the kicker and the back of the transom, to protect the transom ?

Just to let you know mine was mounted by SBC in Chip Falls when I bought the boat.

Mine is mounted EXACTLY the way MX shared in his photos. Mine was done by SBC as well.

Is there enough room to lift the kicker up on the transom when transporting it on a trailer? I’m looking at doing the same thing.
