Motorcycle shipping options

It’s kind of a long shot but I’ve been looking online at a new Harley that is located in Brocton, MA. I live in MN. I’m just starting to research how I would get it back. I know I could fly out there and ride it back. Just don’t like going that far without another bike. Another thought would be a U-Haul pickup rental but haven’t seen a price yet. What are other options for shipping? Thanks

Also you can try Enterprise and rent a pickup from them. Just need to be sure you can get it loaded there. I’m assuming this is a custom built bike from a private builder and not a bike from a Harley shop?

check uship, used it once, you register and give the details, truckers from all over the united states look at the list, they do not want to travel back and forth without a load, they make bids on the trip, you choose, worked for me on getting a boat from texas to mn. worth a check

I think I’d find out if they can load it in a pick-up at the point of purchase and then just drive a pick-up out and get it. No truck, ask a friend….make an adventure out of it and pay his gas and lodging and eats. There are plenty of horror stories about people having bikes and boats shipped via commercial carriers and having control over most things yourself fairly well assures you that it will get home in the condition you want it.

I just got a mint black powder rifle that is 40 years old and very hard to find. The seller and I agreed to the shipping box and hard case inside, then settled on USPS expedited shipping so it wasn’t going to go thru all kinds of hell getting here. 3 day guaranteed. 9 days later…..yes the gun was clean upon arrival but it was not trackable for 6 days! Hard on the nerves. I can’t imagine shipping a Harley and not knowing exactly where it was at and in what condition.

You’ll be too busy planting food plots this spring (or maybe summer, depending on if/when this latest ice age ends) to be playing around with motorcycles.

But if you insist, I was also going to recommend UShip. I’ve only had seed sent using this, but it looks like they take just about anything.

Make sure you have YOUR insurance on the bike from the second you buy it. Obviously, if it’s stolen/damaged/whatever in shipping in theory the driver/company should be insured, but you just never know and you don’t want to be the one left holding the bag in the event that something screwball goes down. Also if you’re insured, your insurace company will be fighting hard to make sure somebody else pays if something happens which for you is a good thing.

Just jumped on the Uship website. They gave an estimate of $380 to ship.

That sounds reasonable to me. I used to use Consolidated Freight before they closed. In the mid 70’s I shipped a dirt bike sandwiched between 2 sheets of plywood from Illinois to California for $100. In the mid 90’s I had a full dresser BMW crated and shipped from Florida to Illinois, that ran ~$300.

Make sure you talk about loading/unloading requirements (ramps, docks, forklifts, cherry pickers).
