I was taught at an early age the motors run on electricity and engines run on combustion. There seems to acceptance that in boating and autos motors is an okay term. What say you?

Smokey Yunick was never heard to say, I think we blew the engine.
And if you do any historical research, an engine was a trebuchet but that was three thousand years ago.

I think years ago in physics I was taught a motor is anything that converts energy into motion.
