Sorry I don’t have a good answer for you other than this might give you an excuse to go look for a new boat??? Can you blame it on her?

Have the same issue with our cabin fishing boat. My Dad bought a cheap motor guide bow mount with a short shaft. it does work fine on the slow speeds but tends to cavitate on the highest speed–starts to suck in air from the surface. Not sure there’s a solution, I put up with it because it’s a old fishing boat and gets us by just fine.

There used to be places that would put on extended shafts, even custom lengths on trolling motors. There was a place in pequot lakes, but not sure if its still there. They did rigging etc and I believe they did this.

Contact a repair shop. They can most likely replace your current shaft with a longer one. I have had long shafts cut down at repair shops in the past. What model trolling motor is it. I may have an older Tour 109 with a long shaft laying around. Not sure. If these units are similar maybe we can work something out.
