I was goose hunting last week when at the end of the day the rope broke on the outboard. Thankfully had my trolling motor to get me home. Had to go about a mile on electric.
Fast forward to this week. Hooked up trolling motor to pull away from dock and it powered on for a couple seconds then stopped. Glad I replaced recoil rope now.
Did I burn the motor up? I there something I can reset? I did notice the handle is harder to turn. It’s a 55lb motor guide transom mount maybe 4-5 years old.

Were you plowing through a bunch of reeds & weeds? Check the prop for weeds wrapped around.

No. Used push pole to get to water deep enough for outboard.
I’ll pull the prop off when I get home to check.
    Thanks.

Guess it’s about time to switch gears and pull the outboard and trolling motor. Time for the mud motor! Bring on the ducks!

Goose hunting this morning my 55 motor guide decided to act up. No power forward and only power in 2nd speed reverse. I slapped it a few times and it started working. That and the tiller handle keeps water in it.

Possibly, depending on your motor. I have a minnkota that has an inline breaker, one by the battery the other inside the footplate. You could probably google it and find your answer.
