The casino. Huge parking lot and all lit up nicely. 24/7 security driving through the lot.

There’s a super 8 with good room rates. I think BK has a deal with them. .Also a country inn out by the smokin oak. New holiday inn with plenty of lights.

I have stayed at the Nickols Inn several times and they have a lit back lot with a plug in for a truck and trailer. Rates are good and it is a nice place.

The historic St. James Hotel—it’s beautiful and it’s haunted. Parking kind of sucks but I’d recommend hitting it at least once sometime.

rotflol rotflol that place is an expense tourist trap. I see nothing impressive about it.

I don’t know man. I’ve had some pretty good nights at the St. James. If he wasn’t with the wife I wouldn’t have mentioned it.

The pub upstairs has good food. A little pricey but I agree it’s a fun night if you want to take the wife out.

and very expensive. like i said just my opinion of the place, never actually stayed in there rooms. maybe it was the nature of the business when i was there. i’m not into fancy and ritzy and had some rough contract negotiations there. in my 13 1/2 years i figure i got roughly 30-40, 8 to 10 hour days in that building.

Not sure what everyone classify as expensive, but you can eat at jimmy’s and have a drink and not spend a fortune. Yes it’s not as cheap as Applebee’s but it’s not the same. Buns from local bakery etc. I would say if you ate the casinos steak house it would be as expensive. Unless you use a coupon. But again not apples to apples comparison. I would highly recommend at least eating there once!

BJO….if you’re needing ample room to park the boat and vehicle together, skip the St. James. There are plenty of motels that will offer room for the boot and vehicle and if you disconnect, Red Wing has lots of places with good food from fancy dining to home cooking, breakfast to dinner. For a nicer evening out give the St. James a go….you don’t need to be staying there to eat there and the food is excellent by the way.

I stayed at the Red Roof. Don’t remember any parking problems and it was really cheap.
Weather sucked and fish did not bite whatsoever.

We’ve stayed at the Day’s Inn on every November trip, last one being about 6 years ago. Plenty of parking; I’d call Jay the owner and let him know we’re coming with a boat and request a room with with convenient parking. Not sure if he’s still the owner.

The St. James is a cool hotel but it not worth the money to stay there. The whole “haunted” thing is just to drum up more business. They do have some great food and it is worth checking out. The Quality Inn has plenty of parking and you can get a room with a balcony overlooking your boat.
