Mossberg Service

Well, I’ve been biting my tongue for sometime dealing with Mossberg, I have to vent. I purchased a rifle this past summer, Mossberg band obviously, as this was my first Mossberg owned gun. Started accessorize the weapon. Nice huge scope for out west, bipod, and finally a sling…and this is where things went south.

As far as the gun is concerned, it’s been pretty descent. Great at 100yrds, 200 yrds, 400 yrds, 500 yrds but had the wrong bullet grain for 700 yrds so I still need to test that distant out.

Let’s get back to the stupid sling. For some reason, I just couldn’t think this out. It came with a QD mount on the butt stock but the swivel stud on the forearm was just to big for a traditional sling mount. I called Mossberg for help and they told me I needed a Magpul M-Lok adapter. Once I received it, it was quite clear it wouldn’t fit. Emailed Mossberg again, gave more info on the gun, and they responded that I had a MDT forearm and therefore needed a MDT m-lok adapter. I questioned this as I though all m-lok was m-lok but whatever…not a huge gun guy. Well, of course that did not fit as well. I re-emailed Mossberg in which they replied again, the MDT m-lok will work. I sent them my serial number of the gun. Again, he said after talking with the engineers, the MDT m-lok will work. Am I doing something wrong? Somewhere in there I also called Mossberg service tech instead of email only to have the guy start googling…nothing resolved from that guy, but he also stated M-lok would work.

I than called MDT Tac and asked about the stock (same as my gun) and they said quit clearly that the slots on the front of this gun are NOT m-lok spec and are only there to cool the barrel.

LMFAO. How can Mossberg be this inept about one of their own firearms? They still have no idea. Even a mossberg engineer told me the m-lok would work!

Even though the gun shoots great, I’m happy with it, but I could never buy again from Mossberg. Its quit clear they don’t know their own equipment should you need them for something more serious than a sling.

fyi-I just decided to weave the sling loops straight into the slots on the forearm. I won’t be shooting the gun too much with the sling on so it shouldn’t melt to the barrel.

    vent over.

    Found the problem.

I’ve never been a fan of anything Mossberg until I saw one of the MVP rifles in action. Dang, they’re accurate little rifles for the money. If I didn’t have an M77 in .223, I would be getting an MVP Varmint.

What is the rifle model here?

I’ve got the Mossberg MMR and really enjoy it. It seems that like most platforms with a mil trigger, it needed some work to get the trigger up to snuff, but once I did that and got her dialed in with some fodder of her own, she’s been a varmint shooting machine. Lots of fun in the dog towns and pretty easy to get her red hot on a good day.

Mine has standard sling studs fore and aft, so I can’t envision the setup you’re describing.

Just assuming here but I believe it’s an MVP LC. I believe it’s the only model that uses an MDT Tac stock.

    You are correct. Nice work.

I have no issue with the gun, mostly, just the fact Mossberg had no idea what they were dishing out. I’d love to post the email but it’s embarrising they, the gun manufacture, couldn’t answer this simple question… and gave out misinformation.

The precision rifle is new to me with a AR type platform.

    Just wanted a sling man…lol.

I’ve always been a fan of Mossberg, mostly because I think that the 500 is one of the best budget guns ever made. With that being said I’m usually skeptical when a company steps out of they’re comfort zone with different products until they’re consumer tested for a couple years, and I’m given a reason to jump on board.

I had a bad experience with a one of their semi-autos and found they’re customer service to be pretty much no help. With that being said some of my buddies own patriots and mvp’s and love them.

Just speculating, but in my experience with alot of things (guns or not) you can get decent quality stuff without spending ridiculous amounts of money, but what you later find is that extra money is usually buying good customer service and warranties.
