We are doing an auction in my league this year. Draft is Sunday night. Each person starts with 200 fake dollars and you bid on players until you run out of money or fill a roster. This will be a new experience for me, as I’ve always done a snake draft.

I’ve got a snake draft 16 team PPR league this weekend.

I won the league last year, so have the dreaded #16 pick and really don’t know what to do.

I’m hopeful someone is dumb and reaches at some point dropping Chubb or Jacobs to me. I’m not in love with Pollard if he’s available, but he’s worth considering. I can’t NOT get a RB with one of my first 2 picks in that position…otherwise I’ll be screwed in a 16 team league.

I like Pollard. And Chubb. Both will be the main backs on their squads this season without a clear alternate. Pollard is more of an all purpose back, Chubb is more of a power back.

Bijan Robinson looks like the real deal in Atlanta too. He could have a bigger and better season than Zeke did his rookie year at Dallas.

What’s your take on Jacobs? My best guess is one of Chubb (least likely), Pollard, or Jacobs will fall to me at 16. There’s 2 dumb people of the 14 in an otherwise Uber competitive league and I could see one taking Mahomes

Jacobs is a solid pick too. I think Pollard plays on a better offensive team that Jacobs though. Pollard will probably catch more passes. They use him in the passing game frequently. Would not hesitate to take any of them at the 16th pick.

I would avoid Derrick Henry this time around. He turns 30 this season and the Tennessee offensive line is rated as very poor.

My Team. Am ranked 2nd best draft for our group. Wish I could have got AJ Brown.

Big G – in what order did you pick your lineup? Just 1-4 and what # pick were you. Just curious

I also drafted 5th in a ten team snake PPR.
    1. Hill
    2.Adams
    3.Stevenson
    4. Ridley

I got sniped like three rounds in a row for the TE I wanted to so took a flyer on the Kincaid kid from Buffalo. Everyone is saying he’s going to be a beast in fantasy but he’s technically still the #2 TE there. ESPN doesn’t like my team much but I do. If the TE does well I think it could be very good.

You must really Like Henry. Or More RB’s went early in your draft. Most rankings have him as RB #5 or 6, and most mock drafts have him going in the mid to late 2nd round. He was the #3 RB last season and is a beast so it was probably a good pick

He is in for a fall in production, big time. His age, the questions at QB for the Titans, and a terrible offensive line are going to sink him this season. Plus they will be playing behind a lot and he’s useless in the passing/blocking game.

He was dominant for years and peaked when he ran for over 2,000 yards. He might accrue half that this season. Let him go until the third round at least.

Other than McCaffry he’s probably the best back in the league. His deal is that he has one of the worst O lines in the league and no passing game. That being said, the volume he gets alone, will produce top ten RB fantasy points. He IS the offense.

I don’t think Henry would make it past the second round in any league.

I was probably exaggerating above when I said third round. He aint worth a top 5 pick though, and I would not even take him top 10 anymore. And this is coming from someone who had him when he was was King Henry. The guy won me the league that year.

I can think of at least 6 RBs I’d rather have before him right now.

McCaffrey, Barkley, Chubb, Pollard, Jacobs, Robinson.

I would put him ahead of Pollard and Jacobs. I think Jacobs will have a really tough year for the same reasons Henry will. Also, he had no training camp. It will take him 4 weeks at least to get back to himself.

I’m curious, Where would you put Rookie Bijan Robinson in the RB rankings. He seems to be getting drafted in the top 10-12 overall and in the top 5 among RB’s in most drafts and in most player rankings. A Rookie would scare me from using a top 10-12 pick for him.

Being a rookie is unknown but all indications are that his rookie season is going to look like Zeke Elliott’s or Saquon Barkley’s years ago, and they both led the NFC in rushing their rookie seasons. Atlanta is a very heavy run team too, they have almost no passing game. Bijan is going to be on the field a lot and he frequently lines up as a receiver to catch passes just like McCaffrey does. Dual threat and young as a RB in the NFL means high production.

Yeah I wouldn’t take Henry with my first pick early in a small league, but with that system and his coach’s faith in him…he won’t get out of the second round.

He’s a candidate for me at #16 & #17 having the last pick in the first. I’m debating going RB RB with those picks and sorting through the 2 best left of Chubb, Pollard, Jacobs, and Henry

Honest opinions if that’s a bad or good idea in a 16 team PPR league with the 16th & 17th picks?????

I don’t know. Fairly 50/50. If he’s good, that’s HUGE value at that pick. If he gets warn down and hurt like he often does, it would hurt a lot.

IMO with the last pick in a snake draft you have to look at it more as what is going to give you the biggest differentiation from the league. If there are two RB’s you like, grab them both, if not grab the 2 best WR’s or WR/TE, and then double down on it the next time around. Meaning if you go 2 RB’s, go RB again with at least one pick at 33/34 or if you go WR/TE at 16/17, go WR again and grab one RB at 33/34. My personal opinion is there are a lot of serviceable RB’s this year and no great RB’s, at least none that you will have the chance to draft.

Ours went, 1. Justin Jefferson 2. Ekeler 3. Barkley 4. McCaffrey , I chose Henry over Chubbs, Pollard, Robinson… for some of the reasons mentioned my Mahtofire14. he will get the carries and he still seems Earl Campbell like to me. Time will tell. Good luck to all !

Best advice I have for a new auction league, is to pay almost whatever it takes for the top guy or two on your wish list (sets the bar high for top guys), then talk smack for an hour while everyone blows their budget thinking they will be left in dust if they don’t jump in, and then fill up your team with great value players.

Thanks Werm! I’ve got a list of players I would like to draft based on priority, and I also have a list of players I’m avoiding.

If its a PPR scoring system, I’d not not go back to back RB’s unless something strange happens and several real good RB’s fall to those picks. Seems like this year its a WR driven game. If it was me personally I’d go with the Best WR remaining with your 1st pick and possibly go with a QB with your 2nd. Assuming that one of the top 2 or 3 QB’s are still left at that point. To me, after the top 4-5 RB’s all the rest are a Toss up. With drafting that late in a Big league, after your 1st and 2nd round picks, There will nor probably be any top QB’s left by your round 3 and 4 picks. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who’s not done real well in FF leagues in the past.

The NFL is a QB league, FF is not. Going from Mahomes to a waiver wire QB (15-20) is a difference of 10 points a week. The difference from JJ or McCaffery to a waiver wire RB/WR is 15+ points. It is slightly different in a 16 team league, but I’d still be riding RB/WR/Stud TE and grabbing a QB late. We shouldn’t have to keep repeating this.

That’s why I’ve waiting til the 8th or 9th road over the last 4 years and taken Cousins. I’ve won twice out of 4 years with him and that strategy. He might not ever get you 25 or 30 but he’s almost always getting you 15-20.

^I am definitely not going QB at 16 or 17. It’s more do I go RB/RB…or do I go RB/WR. Kelce will be gone so no TE will be worth it at that point

Well I kind of sucked in the Draft. The picks were all made so fast I did not even have time to cross off players on my cheat sheet or look at the few notes I took. Here is the team I ended up with. Not real happy with my RB’s. I believe that I got the best WR, QB, and Kicker. Took a shot with a Rookie at TE

How many teams? If that’s 16 teams you just won it all
