My FB stream is showing multiple reports/photos of a Moose wandering around the east side! Actually most agree there are at least two of them in the area.

Would be pretty cool to see!

Our family hunting land is NE of mille lacs off of hwy65 north of McGrath. We’ve had a small population around our place for years.
There is so much wild swamp country up in that area that it doesn’t surprise me that they are expanding.
There’s been a couple hit on hwy65 between McGrath and McGregor over the last few years also.

I’ve been seeing those reports as well. Looks to be a couple young bulls that got pushed out of the primary mating territories by the “old curmudgeon studs”… lol

I’ll be up in that area this weekend and while it would be cool to see one, I kind of worry how vulnerable they are to becoming road kill being that they’ve been seen galloping down Hwy 47. sad

I wonder if we will ever get to the point in my lifetime where another moose season for white folks is a possibility? It sure would be cool.

I was simply wondering if the moose population would ever recover enough for a season to re-open in our state for the general population – nothing more, nothing less. Go stir a different pot.

That’s pretty cool. I’d like to wake up one morning and see one wading in the channel at the Warf eating vegetation.

I’m also NE of Mille Lacs south of Mcgregor. Got this guy on camera last year.

One of these years I am going to have to save up for a moose hunt.

Doubtful for every race besides tribal, while their range *may* be expanding, the overall #’s continue to decline and approximately 30% of moose calves are eaten by wolves…and well managing them is a whole ‘nother thread.

Looks like the young Bullwinkle was there, or at a channel nearby.

Speaking of the Wharf, I saw a public notice of auction taking place middle of last month. Haven’t heard anything of what came of it.

That’s cool. I’m in that area all the time and never thought I’d see a moose in that area!

Let’s hope the first time you see it isn’t after it bounces over the hood and roof of your vehicle. shock

BTW, Greg Fisher is the one forwarding these moose pics. smile

That could be the first AND last time you see a moose in the area.
