Kudos for the release! (wonder if he had a tag?)

I remember another very large sturg caught on yellow a few years back. The photo had the fish laying on the front deck of the pontoon.

I can’t seem to find the photo now. (?)

His father is a long time muskie fisherman. The young angler also caught a muskie on Milac’s 5 years ago that was 57″ long and probably exceded the MN state record. He was very adamant about releasing the fish.
He has that “big fish mojo”. Great job on catching a truely giant fish. Unfortunatly he will probably never catch muskies or sturgeon that top his personal best.
I cannot even fathom how giant that fish must have looked when they first saw it.

    Congrats

    Steve

My first time Sturgeon fishing, I accidentally tail hooked one about that length on bass gear & 50 lb braid. Got it halfway into a musky net (that’s all that would fit), and it broke through the bottom.

Awesome to see pics of a similar sized fish.
