I know some guys here do tackle, some do woodworking. What do you do to make a little extra cash?

Hobbies cost money, going to work makes money.
Ain’t that the truth. lol
September 1, 2020 at 4:40 pm #1969797Fishing tourneys, although cost to do them after gas, tackle, etc probably comes out much higher than anything I win…..I also do some work for a couple fishing companies that bring me back into the black.
September 1, 2020 at 4:43 pm #1969799Cut concrete, egress windows, slabs, walls and all sorts of concrete cutting stuff.
Also pour concrete, side walks, garage slabs, steps and so much more. When there isn’t much of that going on i work on small engines. Lots of wheelers, dirt bikes and even quite a few Harleys and some rockets
I trade labor for rights to hunt land as well, I guess the day i buy my own land that labor will turn to cashSeptember 1, 2020 at 5:07 pm #1969806<div class=”d4p-bbt-quote-title”>supercat wrote:</div>

Scratcher women must love you!
Not sure there is enough money for me to WANT to paint anything.
September 1, 2020 at 6:16 pm #1969825I build custom rods
used to make a living at it (now retired from the sports shows)
I do more trading than selling now LOLDeucesPosts: 5268September 1, 2020 at 6:58 pm #1969829I don’t want to make lil cash, I just work more to make big cash.
Hobbies burn the money, and money well spent it is
September 1, 2020 at 7:27 pm #1969838On most side jobs I make more than my real job! Just don’t want to do it full time any longer as it then turns into a job. And yes woman love their hired painter lol
September 1, 2020 at 8:01 pm #1969846I do some beekeeping on the side. A buddy and I take care of 400 hives. We make around 2000 gallons of honey a year.
September 1, 2020 at 8:10 pm #1969849Not so much for extra cash, but cover my holding costs of my farm. I have a few operations set up for tax reductions, crop land rent, forestry.. keeps my farm costs from being out of pocket costs

This ^^^^
Life is too short to attempt to make money on my weekends.
I’ve fished 33 out of 36 weekends this year so far
My only hobby that has ever made a lot of money is flipping boats. I’ve cleared $18,000 cash over the the last four years by hardly lifting a finger.
I jump on a deal when I find one, clean it up, fix broken things, and sell it in the spring. It takes patience and liquid money, but the ROI can be outstanding if you can sit on the boat for a little while (and know the market)
I’m still kicking myself for not jumping on a deal this spring….I found it just as the scare was happening and wasn’t sure if I could have a buyer with the way the stock market crashed and uncertainty ahead….Boy was I wrong lol This year would have been a cakewalk to flip a couple boats! $$$$

Wow if you call that on the side that’s amazing 400 hives and 2000 gallons is a lot of work! I would make about 10-15 gallons a year and that was enough!
September 1, 2020 at 8:47 pm #1969863Lol. It may be taking up all my weekends in August and September. Btw, I have honey for sale $50 a gallon.

Ice CapPosts: 2173September 1, 2020 at 8:47 pm #1969864BBQ catering for private parties. Have done lots of grad parties, groomsmen dinners, weddings, bachelor parties and even a bachelorette party once. That was fun!
Musky EdPosts: 679September 1, 2020 at 9:58 pm #1969893Have woodturnings in a few galleries and art shops, around the state, not a big volume selling opportunity though. Have a display room in the house, and when it starts to over flow after doing turnings in the winter, I’ll go and replenish the shops that display them. Something to do in the winter, but quite honestly have grown to enjoy teaching new turners, more than selling my work.Really tough to let them go when it’s something I like.
September 1, 2020 at 10:11 pm #1969899Lumberyard deliveries – I haul custom pieces of steel, 6x6s, large sheet rock orders as a summer side gig. I use their equipment and trucks, and coordinate the deliveries to fit my schedule with coaching and school responsibilities as Athletic Director. I enjoy seeing contractors I have a relationship with on the job and keeping tabs on area projects.
Mowing ditches and water runs for barter/service swap – I’ve got 5 or 6 area businesses and neighbors that I mow ditches near their fields and receive things in return (gas barrel fills, credit at local auto shop, free sweet corn)
Woodworking – I used to make a half dozen kitchen tables and end tables a winter and sold them for cash. It became a bit of a monster and was bordering on no longer being a hobby, so I’ve dialed it back.
September 2, 2020 at 7:53 am #1969939Fishing guide would fit my description as a hobby that makes money. I have a full time career and a busy family, so I pick up trips from guide friends that are overbooked.
Cody MeyersPosts: 438September 2, 2020 at 7:56 am #1969941Trapping, but the money gets worse and worse every year. I don’t do it for the money, but it’s the only hobby I get a check from.
It feels like I’m the only one these days.
Dustin TichyPosts: 100September 2, 2020 at 8:43 am #1969952I set up a little 3D printing business out of my basement. Primarily a service center to print other peoples’ designs at a lower cost than the big shops. I am thinking about creating some of my own fishing niche items to sell. If you guys have any ideas of little thingamabobs that would be nice that no one currently makes that I can print let me know. I am currently in the process of coming up with a better snell storage solution than what is currently on the market.
RipjiggenPosts: 11830September 2, 2020 at 8:57 am #1969958I dance on the weekends. I enjoy dancing and the money can be decent. Mostly for parties. Body oil is getting expensive however. Not sure if it is a shortage issue or what.

September 2, 2020 at 9:35 am #1969977Woodworking, lure making, rod building, drafting and design work… The only hobby I really am doing right now is rod building. I have made everything from bar signs to cabinetry to framing and finishing basements. Hell I am building a garage for my mom this weekend. I am not sure how much of this counts as hobbies or if it just that I have the skills and tool to do stuff and I am a sucker who tries to help people out. I have never made a ton of money on my hobbies but I have made lots of people very happy.
