Anyone see that St Croix has a mojo car rod out now? Looks kinda cool
I haven’t had one in my hand but I have to ask why they have such a small fore end grip?
A few years back I used a St Croix Triumph for Sturgeon and Channels and it was a great rod but the dang front grip was too small for larger fish. It brought them in but would have felt more comfortable with another inch or so of cork.
A fella from Kansas was telling me they target the blues using chicken though meat… You guys try that? What’s your go to bait?
Well no blues up here.
Flats – Cut sucker/creek chub, live sucker/creek chub/bullheads and gills if we’re fishing on the WI side.
Channel Cats – Dip Baits/fiber baits, crawlers, shad, cut sucker. Some that use liver, wieners and spam.
This picture was a St Croix premier musky 8′ heavy s glass rod vs 64 x 29.25″ sturgeon. I would be interested to see the xh mojo cat but there are several rods for less that would match up. I would like some more power for when the day comes when I meet up with the 70 incher from my dreams.
Isn’t there blues in the Minnesota river?? As a kid I remember being with someone that caught one…

David there was a fella that claimed to have caught a 30+ blue out of the MN. In fact there was a DNR press release about it.
With a little further investigating he was charged with transporting wild game across state lines and filing a false report. Fines paid… guilty as charged.
There’s a post on it in this forum back a few years. With pictures.

That’s one way to gt a state record!
Yeah, a criminal record.
As far as I know, there aren’t any Blues in the Mississippi, or it’s tributaries, upstream from the dam at Keokuk, Iowa. You always hear someone say they caught a Blue, but it’s usually a male channel cat that is dark, dark grey to the point it appears to be blue. And their head is swollen so they don’t look like a usual channel cat.
In short, like Brian said, no blues in Minnesota.
L8R…Ken
Like this? Caught on the Minnesota river. Not a blue cat!
