That is what I was referring to, so you would have to catch them on the Wisconsin side of the river, not any dock on the river, just trying to clarify, thank you.

Dustin – I think this covers all the bases – you are on your own if you are still confused. Contact BK for a Wisconsin Drivers License exam if you do not understand this.

You may harvest any legal gamefish listed in the MN/WI Border Waters regulations provided it is in season and meets possession limit size. You can harvest gamefish throughout the entire MN/WI border waters. You may also use legal gamefish for bait provided you are in Wisconsin territorial waters when you are using gamefish for bait. Gamefish harvested for bait may only be used on the same body of water where caught and while still on that waterbody. It doesn’t matter where you caught the gamefish but if you are going to use it for bait you may only do so in Wisconsin territorial waters. Gamefish used as bait must be included in your daily bag limit for that species.

There is an internet rumor that rumbles about fishing around docks for sunfish.

Remember they can’t be transported away from the river and brought back (alive).

Sorry forgot the sarcasm horn before the post. It was more a reference to the fact that mn residents will have gills mixed in with their bullhead buckets. I’ll use more emojis next time coffee

No. Since you can legally fish for and keep bluegills on the mn side, you don’t have to be in wi to catch them. The answer is that you can catch them from ANY dock on the river.

What Steve is referring to is that once you catch them, you cannot pull your boat out of the water and transport live sunfish on the road in mn.

For those of you wanting to catch some sunfish this is a pretty good video. All you need for bait is a Slim Jim.
