Trout Unlimited hosted a booth and display at the Sports show this weekend in Minneapolis. We had a suprising number of people show up at the booth. The majority of which had no idea of the cold water resources we have available to anglers. While some may be disappointed and feel we are giving away a well kept secret, please remember it is important to preserve and protect cold water fisheries and while we may speak to a lot of people about the trout streams of Minnesota the majority may never ever visit one.

However, as developmental and enviromental legislation is key it is important to be inclusive to all voters in order to protect our resources. Trout fishing and more so fly fishing runs a dangerous gambit in that it has the appearance of being a sport for the rich and elite and organizations which would be thrilled to eliminate fishing entirely will use that against our own interests. So one sure fire way to help ease crowding on streams is not to be secretive but to inform people share the sport and ensure support for increased stream habitat and restoration that will in turn increase the amount of water we all have to fish and enjoy.
    Tight lines,
    Kevin
