    Question for you fellas. If a stream isn’t a designated trout stream, not marked by any means, can you still fish it after the season is over? Is it considered open water then?
    What about on the Root River if you are going after Smallies?

    that’s a good question .

    this is just a guess but……i’d say if it’s NOT a designated trout stream, go for it. Just make sure there are smallies in there. i’d think you could fish the NON-DESIGNATED sections of the root with out to much hassle.

    You can fish in non-designated waters after the trout stream closes. However, you obviously have to release your trout if you happen to catch one.
