Was out last night for a couple hours on Whitewater. I had 1 long distance catch and release or I got skunked. Depends on what way you look at it. The water conditions seem more like Aug/Sept than Apr/May.
How has other people luck been?

Timing is everything. The caddis have been going very strong for the past few days. I hit a caddis spinner fall on Friday night and took a few fish. I hit a strong caddis hatch on Saturday from 10:00-when we quit at 4:00. Did awesome on dries and even switched over to caddis nymphs when the risers petered out a bit and did very well. We ran into a ton of people on a stream with no regs. and interestingly ran into no one on a stream that has regs. Go figure.

I stayed away form the WW this weekend and went more south. Trout run by Troy. Only caught 1 brown about 14 on Sat. and then 1 brown about 16 on Sunday. Man was it hot. I could see alot of fish, but they were very lethargic (spelling) . The water was very clear and there was alot of vegetation. It was pretty cool to see all of them fish milling around though. I didn’t see a single person on the stream.

No pro by any means but i have had the same luck on the nymph/fly deal last week or two in the same watershed. Ultra-clear super spooky, 100’s of trout seen, very tough for me as well. Usually this is a great time with no one else out there. Did find some awesome nettles that burned holes in my forearm and wrist though…. Icing on the cake!
