Got out early this morning, on a small stream in Goodhue county.

Anyone who was out this morning knows how uncomfortably cold it was at sun up. We started around 7:00am, pitching small countdowns for browns. It was sooo cold the line was freezing up and iced over the guides of my rod.

A couple hours later I finally got a decent 15 incher. About 10 minutes after that, I took off my right hip wader (did i mention i discovered a small tear in it this morning brrrrr). I was going to shake out the water and wouldnt you know, somehow my phone had made it into the wader without my noticing, and dropped down the bank. Luckily it stopped about 2 inches from the creek.

Soon after, my buddy tied into a 16 incher that found its way off at his feet. I did end up getting one more decent 18 inch brown, heres a couple pics

Nice pics. I was thinking of getting out, but we got home late due to the wife’s b-day.

I have nothing to post picture wise, but I was out this AM with a friend and ran into around 7 people from 7 Am to 9:30. Spinner chuckers in clear water…they had nothing to show as the water temps were 39 degrees at the time . We deep nymphed tandem rigs and caguht around 20 fish between us. A nice BWO hatch came off later in the day and fishing was stupid good. Water clatrity was great if you were a fly fisherman, but I cannot imagine drowning a worm or tossing a Mepps to entice a trout when the bugs were going as well as they were.

Yeah, I only saw 4 other people in the 5 miles we walked, and they were all together drownin crawlers. The river I fish is very low pressure and the browns get BIG. Last year I got quite a few over 24 inches, but they seemed to be hiding today.
