I fished the very south end (beginning of fishable water) of Hay Creek for the last day of the catch and release season. I had not fished this water in years, and now I know why. Several years ago I could easily land and release 20-30 trout in a few hours using my typical floating rapala or panther martin spinners. I had one trout hit, thats it. I saw one other trout. A landowner I spoke with stated Hay Creek was abnormally high this spring from runoff. I hope other reports are better for the opener.
