Tried this recently with lake trout and the whole family liked it.
    brush filet with olive oil
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1 tablespoon curry powder
    1 tablespoon garlic
    1 tablespoon salt
mix ingredients and sprinkle evenly over the top put filet skin side down on foil and the on grill do not over cook skin will stick to foil and peel off filet.

Send them my way! I’ll smoke ’em for ya .

Zoomer, that sounds like a good recipe too.

If you like smoked fish, its hard to beat. Brine for smoked trout can be simply pack the trout with salt to mixing up a big concoction of salt water and other flavorfull ingredients. For example: approx 1:4 salt to water, little garlic, liquid smoke, brown sugar. I cant give you exact amounts because I make it to tase every time. Make sure the brine has plenty of kick. Just soak the trout over night and smoke for 3-5 hrs. Use apple wood for the best results .

Hope you give it a try sometime
