Are the streams going to be clear enough to fish tomorrow afternoon in SE MN? I’d like to get the flyrod out, but don’t feel like wasting my time if the water is going to be too high and dirty. Any stream advice would be apprecitated as well as what types of patterns to use this time of year.

I can’t answer your question but if it were me I would go out and try different ways to catch them. It might be harder to catch them but the search is part of the fun. Please don’t think I am trying to a smart because I get out to enjoy the outdoors and catching fish is my bonus. I was out yesterday and it was real slow on pool 4 but it was a great experience!

Get out and enjoy the streams before the bugs eat you.

I spent some time on the Rush yesterday with my dog and it looked pretty good. It was still a little dirty but not bad.

South Branch of Whitewater has gone down pretty good, it is moving along fast and has cleaned up well since Wed. Here in St. Charles it is about a foot and a half from the top of the bank.

Think smaller spring creeks less than three miles in lenght – they always clear the fastest. Otherwise, focus on the headwaters of winter season streams. They, too, will be cleaner faster.

Sounds like snow and rain is on the way, though .

Made it out for a couple hours Sunday afternoon. After crimping barbs we were ready to go. By the end of the afternoon 4 trout were caught, 2 brookies and 2 browns. Water at the headwaters of streams was gin clear, down stream chocolate milk. Bring on April!
