So far, I have limited my tying to the simple wets such as prince nymphs, buggers, pheasant tails, etc… and have only tied a handful of dries – mainly tricos and homemade concoctions that have caught a surprising number of fish.

Can any of you pro’s at this hobby recommend a decent book on fly-tying that has easy-to-follow recipes and instructions? I am kind of looking for a “fly-tying for dummies” type of manual.

This winter is rapidly getting long enough for me. I wish some decent MN streams were a touch closer……. I guess I just have to wait for the WI winter opener .

    Thanks in advance.

Tying the _____ books by Skip Morris are decent. I left it blank sincd he has books on tying the nymph, the dry, the streamer, etc.

For local flavor, I’d look into Ross Mueller’s two books that highlight effective flies of the Midwest, how to tie them, as well as how to fish them.
