I was out and around on Saturday, as well as yesterday, and area streams are in great shape. Your small, headwaters type spring creeks are crystal clear, as is a bulk of streams in state park areas.

The Root, while still running high, is not overly dirty, especially on the upper reaches of the branches.

Hatches for fly guys: midges, baetis, and Dark Hendricksons.

Spinner guys: Find the deep pools and runs, especially the runs the more the water and air warm up.

FWIW – I see more rain is on the way .

I am headed down to the Houston and Caledonia area this weekend. It is an annual trip and every year I learn to appreciate trout fishing more and more. They are such a tough fish to sneek up on and present a bait to.

The water wsa still off south of 90 more so than north of 90 yesterday. It should clear very well and warm up nicely in the next few days. Water temperatures should not be an issue the next week or so, but with rain in the forecast, clarity could be a problem, especially on the larger river systems.

The spring creeks will be in great shape, though.
