O.K. here is the scoop! I fished the North Branch today with my friend Bob Williamson as my guide. It was confusing, altered, tough catching, but I think it will be great after a settling process. The water was somewhat clear, fast, and this stream has had a severe, but good scouring. The high weeds were knocked down and it was a good day despite the changes. All you catch and release guys, have fun! All you catch and keep guys, have fun also!

Hit a different branch of the Whitewater this morning/afternoon also……..Had all the intentions in the world to use the fly rod, but the streams were in perfect spinner condition, so oppted for the speed approach……The fish were chasing BIG TIME!!! unforutnatly, our hook-up/hits ratio was only around 1/10. I don’t know if the fish were just bumpin it or what, but it was INCREDIABLLY frustrating !!! when you got to the right type of water (bottom of the riffles) you would have at least a follow on almost EVERY CAST!!!

Average size of the ones we were catchin was running a bit small, but did get a few around 12″. Sliver bladed mepps out CAUGHT the Gold 3/1, but both had the same number of hits. nothing would pay attention to the raps .

Keep your spinning rod in the car and get out your streamers. With this off-colored water, streamer fishing has been fantastic. You have the ability to retrieve your streamer any way you please, which allows lots of hook ups, unlike spinner fishing that requires some sort of steady retrive method. Give it a shot next time the water is off; you will certainly be in for a show.

I was in WW two days ago and it was still stained but very fishable. I am foregoing the potential madness in the WW or any other trout stream for that matter and am going to target bass and pike on the fly at the lake this weekend, that is amidst a few hundred people water skiing, jetskiing, and what not .

    Happy 4th all,
