Heading down to Lanesboro this weekend (Fri-Sun) for a weekend away with my wife. She’s more than happy to sit on the bank and read while I fish…but where? I have waders and would love to cast for trout. Where’s a place that’s close? Do I need waders? What bait or flies? I have a very old fly rod that I don’t have time to respool, so can I use a regular spinning rod? I plan on bringing the fly rod just for fun, either way.

    Any info would be appreciated.

Haven’t exactly fished it, but it looks like waders are a plus, but you might not even need them, I know there is quite a bit area designated trout stream, so regulations are different, you can find them out through the DNR regulation book, and the DNR does have some good sources for books fro maps and such for that area, which you can order directly from the DNR, or you might even be able to pick them up from an office building in St.Paul, just north of where high way 52 ends.
