I spent a few hours on southbranch upstream from the Forestville park on April 1. Actually it is quite aways from the park as I am way upstream on southbranch from the entrance of canfield.
The fishing was crazy. The second cast after entering the water I caught a little brown even though the water was low and crystal clear. I used one of John Eggers big gold spinners and my partner was using a yellow panther martin.
I switched to a black Mepps spin bug shortly there after and that is when the catch numbers went up. These spinners are not easy to cast as they are very light but they are deadly. I don’t have to many days where I can stand in one spot and catch multiples as a spinner fisherman but Thursday was a exception. The fish were above or below the strong current areas just sitting mid stream in what are about one to two foot deep areas. I ended the day with one 14 incher.Unfortunately my partner dunked my expensive digital camera as he stumbled in the creek and I have no pics.
See Ya
