I had a great first ever outing on the Minnesota river! Larry your post on the river accesses was a big help. Hanson was a big help with his advice on where to start when fishing white bass.
I started off fishing back water areas, but came to the fast conclusion that they weren’t there. So I went to work on a current seem. Bang fist white bass of the day, a nice chuncky 12 incher. I pulled out a few more and then it shut off. As I coutinued up river I found a few nice seems where I picked of a few more of which was a nice 16-17 bruiser. The white bass seemed to like an .125 once road runner jighead with chart gulp twister tail reeled slowly along the less current side of the seem.
During the heat of the day I decided to stop for lunch and give my wife a call. Well I rigged up a snelled crawler and cast it out. Reached in my pocket to grab my cell phone and the rod was bobbing. Set the hook in to a 27″ 10 pound including the landing net channel cat. (My biggest of the year so far)After that I used up a the rest of the dozen crawlers on sheephead.
It was a great first Minnesota river trip thanks again to all for your wonderful advice and information!
