Spent the whole day yesterday on this great body of water I like to call home.
After going to plan B launch we finally made it out and tried our luck at some “spring stripers”.
Early in the day we found mostly 43-44f water temp in the main current and up to 54 in the creeks.
With the current so fast and the water so cold, it’s a no brainer where the fish will be and be there they were there. Anywhere you could find a break and warmer water the fish were there, and even better, no bait needed. Just a 3/8oz jig and ringworm or paddletail.
There were some real hogs to be had, and we probably boated 5 that were over 16″ with the biggest coming in at just a tad under 18″ and tipping the scales at 3lbs even! I think we stopped counting at 25.
Mixed in were some bonus buffalo and one fish that we both whined about the rest of the day that we never got to see
If you get the chance to try this, it’s a lot of fun and they put up a great fight. In fact, I think I made a comment about it every time I got hit.
Here’s my biggest of the day at about 2lb 9oz
Here’s Hanson’s biggest at 3lbs!!!
Also, how bout that Shad and circle hooks, a dynamite combination
and a video that shows it all:
