I think you would like a Shimano Symmetre. I like mine.
    Or any high end Shimano.

For vertical jigging, anything that has a good drag system and instant anti-revers will do.

Me personally am going with Abu Garcia Cardinal 401’s on my two st. croix 6’3 (for vertical jigging) and most likely going with the pflueger Arbor on my st. croix pitching rod (6’9).

No need to put extra $$ into reels.

    1. Shimano Stradic Ci4 2500
    2. Pflueger Supreme XT 9030
    3. Shimano Symettre 2500

All very good reels. Not looking to break the bank, IMO the Shimano Sedona is the best bang for the buck of any reel I know of.

I have had both Symetre 1000FJ and Pflueger 4730 Arbors on that same rod…both great reels…

    after fishing both, I would prefer the Arbor because;
1)It has a wider spool for better line mgt with braid/fluoro
    2) it was smoother out of the box
    3) carbon fiber drag system
    4) graphite rotor
    5) machined aluminum (free) extra spool
    6) about $20 less expensive

both have great service… you will be fine with either.

Let me know what you are looking at. I recommend the Stradic Ci4 1000 for a jigging rod. Nice and light. Another nice reel is the Pflueger Patriarch.

Go see Dean at Everts. He’ll set you up perfectly. He put an Arbor President on my new St. Croix and I love it. Perfectly balanced and I can fish all day and not have my arm fall off.

Pflueger Supreme XT. I owm Shimano Stradics and Sustains, and in my opinion the Pflueger Supreme XT is twice the reel.

I have been using Symetres for many years, have close to a dozen and they all work just fine. The drags hold up well and they see allot of action. The older ones were heavy but the newer ones are lighter and have been holding up very well. However I choose these be cause of the price, would spend more if I didn’t have to have 6 in the boat…. I also use them all winter too.
