I’ve stayed there a few times in winter and fished for Lakers through the ice, caught some beauties! Can’t tell you much about smallies or walleyes other than we usually go down the road to Sag for those. Beautiful lake, you are going to love it!

Don’t know about the smallies. Walleyes are tuff during the day. I had my best luck slow trolling raps along shore after dark.

Don’t be afraid to venture over to Sag for walleye!!

I think you may find most people fishing lake trout on Gunflint. Trolling deep with downriggers.

Two years a go my wife and I honeymooned there. We went to Northern light for a day and really had a blast. This year the in-lawas are going up as well. We’ll pobably just cast the shore line and see what happens. My wife enjoys the food and I enjoy the fishing. Perfect place. I have also heard that the walleys are hard to find.
