    Hey Everyone,

Im heading up north next weekend to the Girlfriend’s Cabin. The Cabin is located on Dear Lake Which is also real close to Otter Tail Lake. Anyone had any luck with with Walleye or Panfish in either of these lakes?

    Thanks for your help!

Ottertail is an incredible walleye fishery but it is large and full of structure. A GPS map like a Lakemaster or Navionics map will help a lot. I would stop at Ben’s bait in Battle Lake and see what’s been going on. I think the walleye should be a little deeper this time of year, possibly around the 24 foot mark. But check with the locals for better details.

Make sure you hit OtterTail while your up there. Great water for eyes. If you get a chance to fish the evening make sure you pull cranks up on Amour Flats. (You won’t be disapointed.) Stop in and talk to the guys at Ken’s in Amour. They’ll take care of you on the recent bite.

On a side note. Make sure you hit the pork farmer just out of Amour. He has a retail outlet with the best meat around.

I was on Otter Tail last Friday and Sunday. The bite was OK on Friday and really slow for us on Sunday. May flies were still hatching with a lot of husks in the water and plenty of those pesky critters in the air.

You can catch a fair number of eaters pulling crawler rigs in that 25-30 ft range or you can work the weeds slowly to get the 19-23″ fish. Fishing action on the bigger fish seemed to be a lot slower.

Agree with stopping in to see the guys at Ken’s. Good local info and bait available there. If the fishing sucks hit Zorbaz for a cheeseburger pizza and a cold beer.
