Made a quick trip up by Mora this afternoon looking for some sunnies and crappies again. Found the lake ice conditions to be great. Very little snow so travel on the lake was easy. Going to need to remember my ice cleats for next trip.

Got luck and found a nice school of panfish in the 2nd area I checked today. Started out with a black and white gil pil and euro larve. Starting out there where far more fish missed than caught. About 4pm this changed and it was game on.

The crappies where chasing minnows in this area. From time to time you could see large schools coming threw on the Marcum. When this happens the fish seem to want a real aggressive presentation. Leaving the lure sit above the school would get very little activity. Start jigging and a fish would dart up out of the school after the jig.

About 6pm the bite had left and I headed for home. Here is a photo of a few that where kept for dinner tomorrow night.

Anyone else been getting out? Looks like plenty of good fishing ice fishing left this season.

Thats where these fish came from. 4 to 6pm was the most active part of the afternoon but I have got into them in the middle of the day also.

Cool. I’ll see what the warden says when she returns from Iowa on Friday night.

Hey Mike! I’ve been out catchen ‘um lately myself. I’m actually fishing now and not “washing the truck”! It slowed down for me yesterday. I was out there on Monday, but didn’t see ya or I would of stopped and said hello.

Even after all the snow has melted off the lake your truck mark was still out there. I seen a red truck down on the east end of the lake but didnt think it was you. I was fishing more towards the center of the lake.

Yeah, I like to leave my mark on the lake! I saw the ice chunks from a distance, and decided to stay away from “that spot”! I was actually on the NW side of the lake.

Searching for the 10ft hole eh?

I will be there this Saturday. 2 of the brothers have a cabin on that lake. We do well right in front of both of them. It’s an all day bite but need to be prepared to drill a WHOLE LOT OF HOLES. One spot usually has some holes already drilled which is nice this time of year.

The other spot never has open holes..

Maybe I’ll drag pug off the river bank with me.
