Lake Pepin has white bass action most of the summer…look for fish boiling the surface as they gorge on schools of shad. Look for tapering gravel points and/or shoals…a small lipless silver crank burned as fast as you can will generally get a savage strike!
That’s an article from the Strib about stocking white bass in metro lakes. Looks like currently they’re stocking Sucker, maybe Pleasant, with others to follow if successful. Make sure and call/write the DNR and express your wishes and concerns.
On another note, any of the major river systems (Miss, Minnesota, St. Croix) have pretty good white bass fishing. State record comes from the Croix!
Whites tend to be river fish. Lake Zumbro in Olmsted Co. has them and I believe there some in the Faribo area lakes. I don’t remember catching any in our northern MN lakes.
We used to find them in tetonka where the cannon river enters the lake in early summer. They were schooled up and on a feeding frenzy last time we found them there.1/8 oz white hair jig with a crappie minnow was deadly.
