Gave Ann lake another try on Thursday. Wasnt sure how the snow/slush conditions where going to be but was happy to see I could still get the truck out to a few spots. This was mainly done by following others tracks out. Wouldnt recommend to much venturing off by your self in a vehicle unless you have a good shovel with or you are Kooty.

My 1st spot in the center of the lake only gave up a few perch. Gave this about a half hour before moving over the the east part of the lake. It didnt take long to find some sunnies in this area. The bite had improved from last week but there where still a lot of fish that would just come up and look then swim away. Switching my Diamond jig over to a smaller sized Gill Pill help coax some fish in. Very light jigging was also key. Hold the rod on my knee and lightly tapping the handle with a finger was at most what they wanted.

Middle of the day the bite was real hit and miss. Towards evening it was on. Even managed a nice 15″ large mouth on my 2# test panfish rod. That was fun. Also got one nice crappies about 12″s. Ill try to get a photo of it up later. There was also some guys getting pike on tips ups in this area to.

Size of the panfish was on the small side yesterday. Most sunnies where in the 6″ range. Hopefully as lake conditions improve I will be able to get to some other areas to look for bigger fish. It didnt help that I forgot my boots at home and had to fish out of the truck door all day.

It was good to see Kooty, Matt and Calvin on the water yesterday. Glad to hear you guys got into some fish also. Happy Bday Kooty.

Anyone else been getting out in the area?

I’ve been wanting to get out to Ann, but haven’t. Went out to Knife yesterday with the wheeler and ventured off by myself away from the “cities on ice”. Little did I know what me and the wheeler were in for! Deep snow-a layer of ice-water- than the good ice! Almost got stuck the whole drive offroad! Everything covered in slush, snow, water, and ice! Fished for a little bit and caught one crappie, gave up right away after the he$% me and the wheeler had been through and went home to thaw the wheeler for a day to get it un-iced.Now more snow is coming, gonna be a tough winter.

I hear you about the slush/snow conditions. It may be down to me hoofing it to my spots after this next snow.

Good seeing you again Mike. Now you know why I drive a Ford!! I would not have wanted to venture any further than we did. The slush that froze to the wheels made for a very unbalanced ride home that night. Luckily most of it came off by the time we hit my garage. I need to get my heater installed this week!!
