Made it back up to Mora this morning. temps where great for hole hopping today looking for sunnies and crappies. Nice fog on the lake this morning. Found lots of inactive panfish at one of the community holes right away this morning. Moved off to a shoreline all by myself and was able to put a few nice sunnies between 8 and 9.5″s on the ice. Around noon moved out towards the center of the lake and deeper water looking for crappies. Found a nice school after drilling a few holes. Not big ones but plenty of 8 to 10″ers.
Shrimpos took plenty of crappies again today. Pulled the white body off of it and gave the black a try and the crappies loved it. Tryed out a diamond jig today also. Fished both the shrimpo and diamond jig down the same hole and it was fun to watch if a crappie didnt want the shrimpo I could work him in on the diamond jig and euro larve. The sunnies seemed to like the diamond jig also.
Anyone else fish 2 lines in one hole while ice fishing? I get some strange looks while doing this but it works for me. If the fish get to active its back to one line. When Im hole hoping and there is only one hole in a area I do this alot to see what the fish want. Not many problems in shallow water with lines tangles but this is more bound to happen in deeper water.
Thinking this may be one of my last ice fishing trips for the year. Off to Mexico later this week and most likely back on open water after that. Its over to soon. I was just starting to get into this.
Good luck to you guys that are getting out.
Here is a photo of a nice 9.5″ sunfish that hit a diamond jig and euro larve. They sure put up a nice fight. Sent the click screaming on my reel a couple of times.
