I am traveling to Lake Michigan this weekend, and hoping to catch some Salmon. My boat is a Lund 2025- and I mainly fish Walleye and Smallmouth on Mille Lacs. I have one portable downrigger, some leadcore and trolling rods, dipsey’s, crankbaits, and doctor spoons. My question is: Where would you stay (town) and what essential gear in addition to what I have listed above is essesstial for catching some fish (without breaking the bank)? If you have spots you are willing to share that would be great as well (first time fishing this water and likely won’t go again for several years-kids, other things don’t permit it time-wise).
