    where (MN) would I go?

Its been a long ang ugly year of 2006 – entirely to much work and very little play. The projects are nearly complete, and some time away is in order.

I’d like to try fishing for Lakers, and am looking for suggestions as to where, when, tackle, guides, etc….

I have a snowmobile, a shelter, and all the other required ice fishing toys (sonar, etc) – might be light on the rod/lure end of things….

    All suggestions, ideas, etc welcome.

    Thanks

    UG

THe Ely area has some nice Lake Trout lake, Burntside, Snowbank and Ojibway jump out at me right away. Burntside having the most and biggest. There are also very good ones in the BW but they are Ski in lakes, Basswood and Knife. There are also good ones on the North shore side of the BW but I have never fished them.

You do not need huge tackle for them I have caught plenty on a stronger walleye rod and a jig. They are fun that way.

Burntside comes to ming for me too.. no shortage of lodging around there either. I wouldnt know where to point you for a guide.. I am sure the Ely bait shops know of some. A guide might get you on the fis quicker, and offer some instruction, but I am sure there will be other people on the ice most of the time for some general guidence some of the time.
