We sincerely hope to regroup, and move ahead in offering a needed service to our customers. Have a nice day, and good luck fishing out there. This sucks

I just talked to Bob and it sounds like the reel cabinet was cleaned out, some odds and end tackle were taken like mepps, power bait, and large gamakatsu hooks(particular sizes) were taken amongst several other things.

Some of the reels consisted of shimano Tekota 500 & 600’s, garcia 7000 c3’s, garcia 6500 and 6501’s, Okuma Epixor reels from 30-65 series, various shimano reels.. sedona and symetra, grizzly ice fishing reels(ul spinning).

The hooks that were taken were large hooks and they were very size specific… whomever did this likes using big bait, and probably doesnt ice fish because none of that was gone that we are aware of.

If anyone knows anything, please contact Moores bait.

There was other stuff stolen also, this was just stuff off the top of my head specified by Bob on the phone.

Sorry to hear about this. People like this have no respect and if caught they should be treated with just as much respect.

I think it is safe to say that they are not Catfishermen, or even Fishermen (or People), because real Fishermen would never do something like that.

This must be some punks who deserve a good solid whipping. Sorry to hear of this, and hope it all turns out in the end

    Punks!

My garage got hit hard last year and found out lots of fishing gear is fenced along the southern portions of the east coast. Some of my stuff showed up in South Carolina and Northern Fla.

The best was the guy trying to sell a Thorne Bros Rod that said “Custom Built for Jonny P” on the blank, on ebay. He now has time to think about things.

I hope they catch these guys, not only to bring them to justice but if Bob catches them I’m guessing we will see a sale on cut bait.

“Mr. Briank, where were you on the night of November 5th. between the hours of….oh, nevermind, we see that you were posting on IDA….”

Just kidding, Brian! Yea, I agree that it wasn’t a fisherman of any sort, but just another low-life slime-ball that this world can do without! I know it’s no easier accepting stuff like this happens, but I hope insurance can atleast ease the financial side of it?

We need to incorporate that law other countries have about cutting off the hands of thieves….that would probably end the problem, don’t ya think?

It goes without saying, but keep your ears and eyes open for deals that sound too good to be true! Maybe we can catch these jerks!

I think they should be allowed to keep their hands just so they can grab the open space of other things we should be allowed to cut off …

    Thieves Suck!

Terrible news. Nothing worse than that feeling in your gut. A cross between a bad buffet and getting kicked in the nuts. Hope they catch the guy.

On the specific stuff stolen. More likely just a thug who could care less about fishing. Just knew what stuff he could turn into cash quickly.

Unbelievable! Well, maybe not unbelievable but this is not the sort of thing I was hoping to read on the board. Anyone who knows Bob, knows what a nice guy he is. He’s done a lot to be accommodating to us and he gets this? I’d like to patrol some shore area looking and catch these people or person. Nothing would please me better than to see whoever is responsible brought to justice.

Sorry to hear about it Bob.

After further inventoring with the help of Fisher Dave, we have come up with a large list. The person or persons now have a fully equiped tackle box. Starting with some thirty reels, followed by alot of power bait, varity of Mepps in all sizes, some shad raps in different sizes and colors, hooks (all large circle) with being nice enough to leave some on other pegs. Same goes for bobbers, floating jigs, glow gigs, and alot of smaller sinkers. These too were also done by not taking them all, but just enough to fill some compartments. For those that know me, had I been here I would have been more than helpful to make sure that got what they wanted (and then some). Today will be spent dealing with property damage, along with paper work from the insurance company. Thank you all for the support, and will keep you posted if ever something becomes of this. On a lighter note, the minnows are safe, but they won’t tell me if any of their friends were taken by netting. No air bags are missing so that maybe a good sign.

    Ok… UPDATE

I stopped in and we went through much of the inventory.

THis was someone definately very specific about the tackle they like to use. I would class the fisherman as a general bass, walleye, and pike/muskie fisherman.

Whomever did this, had some time to *shop*. I think the reel cabinet was cleaned out because there were so many reels worth so much money(moores doesnt carry junk reels).

    Some of the stuff missing…

reels as earlier listed minus the grizzly ice reels.. they are there.

Northland jigheads, bulk packs of gumdrop floaters(phelps type), mepps in sizes 3-5 in preferred colors, weights in 1/8-3/8 oz, balsa slip bobbers, gamakatsu hooks in walleye(#6)- decoy sucker minnow size (8/0) including some kiwishwi hooks(open eye), rapalas, power worms and ring worms with purple in them, various fishing line.. they really liked the 4-6# test, but seemed to grab an assortment of others.. but you get the point, there was other stuff gone.

Whomever did this didnt empty most of the hooks… they took a stock of their prefered product in color and size and continued shopping. This was obviously an avid fisherman and catfishermen are not suspect in my eyes.. not one cat rod is gone that we could determin.

This was an all around *game-fisherman* who knew exactly what they liked to use in their common target species of fish. I dont foresee anything goig up for sale with the probable exception of some of the larger reels.

I dont doubt someone filled a minnow bucket with minnows on the way out… this wasnt a burglary to make money, but the loss was huge for a small business. We estimate a rough guess of $3000 in the reel cabinet alone.

This was the most disrespectful thing any fisherman could do.. I consider it a direct spit in the face to Bob which never does anything but try to help fellow fishermen out.. he isnt getting rich owning a baitshop, trust me.

This happened somewhere around 3:30 this morning according to the cash register.. they hit a key to open the empty register and the reciept prints the time of any transaction.

If this happens again I dont think we will have a local baitshop anymore. If anyone knows anything.. please let the police know, or Moores bait. I suspect this person is a very avid fisherman and quite young.

Sorry to hear about your loss Bob.
Its a shame when people have to stoop that low. One recommendation that I would offer (and is probably being taken care of by the authorities. Give the pawn shops a heads up on the reels. That would be a place to try to get rid of them. Maybe they can notifiy someone ASAP if any equipment goes through them
Good luck. If you need any help don’t be afraid to ring me.
    thanks

Definetly, thats how crook #3 (out of five) got caught, he came back for the nieghbors a week later. The cameras picked him up walking past my garage and sneaking around the back of the nieghbors garage.

This is terrible! Who doesn’t know the old saying about not defecating where you eat?!

I say keep the eyes on ebay for local sellers of those reels, though there really isn’t much you can do.

    Sorry Bob!!

First the poor guy gets skunked out on the water the day before,(along with the rest of us) then he gets skunked big time at his own shop. What a shame. Its too bad there are people out there ruining a good thing for not only Bob, but for the rest of us honest people the do buisness there. I dont condone stealing one bit, but if you are gonna do it, rob cabelas, or gander. Atleast they can take a little more of the hit.>>>(again I dont condone it) Like Dave said earlier, another one of these incidents and we wont have a shop to hang out at. I dont blame Bob if it comes to that. Pretty crappy event here. Sorry to hear about the news Bob.

    Scum of the Earth

Keep an eye on Craiglist as well for that gear.

I’m also in if you need a hand beefing up your defense. Just let me know.

You could always move your shop south a bit where it might be safer

Sorry to hear about this Bob. I will keep my eyes and ears peeled on the river here on Pool 2 and put the word out. That is really sad that we (anglers) ever have to worry about this kind of crap. Glad no one got hurt.

I wish you the best in your recovery.
We all should keep our eyes peeled on Ebay or other auction type sites.
