Hey folks, I’ve got one for you folks who get up to the small lakes around Alexandria. I’m headed up there in the first full week of September and am staying on two small lakes, Moses and Aaron. They seem to have marginal populations of walleye and quite a bit of small northern. What lures and presentations might produce walleye that time of year on small water, and also, what method/lures might produce best on the northern. I’m taking my boy up there for the first time and would love to show him something other than the bluegills and catfish we get from our local water. Thanks for the help!!!

    Andy,
It’s been 20 years since I was doing this, but at that time, Sept., rigging bait, minnows, crawlers worked well.
I’m sure there are many other good ideas, too.

Never fished these lakes but I have done well trolling spinners such as little joes tipped with leech. Might have to fight off the Northerns but when I find where walleyes are located then try jigging or lindy rigs.
